The Four Pillars of
Every Malawian Life
AFORD believes that four things determine whether a Malawian family lives with dignity or desperation — and that any serious government must address all four at once.
Forex
Foreign Exchange
A stable exchange rate protects every Malawian's purchasing power. When the kwacha weakens, the cost of medicine, food, fuel, and school fees rises immediately — hitting the poorest hardest. AFORD's Forex policy targets macroeconomic discipline, export growth, and foreign reserve management to bring lasting stability.
Fertiliser
Agricultural Inputs
Over 80% of Malawians depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Affordable, accessible fertiliser is not a subsidy — it is an investment in national survival. AFORD's Fertiliser policy commits to reliable input supply chains, transparent subsidy distribution, and support for small-scale farmers who feed the nation.
Fuel
Energy Security
Fuel shortages paralyse hospitals, ground transport, halt businesses, and spike prices across every sector. Consistent fuel supply is the oxygen of the economy. AFORD's Fuel policy focuses on strategic reserves, transparent pricing mechanisms, and diversifying energy sources to end the chronic fuel crisis that has plagued Malawi for years.
Food
Food Security
No Malawian family should go to bed hungry. Food security is not charity — it is a right and a foundation of national stability. AFORD's Food policy targets self-sufficiency through irrigation expansion, crop diversification, grain reserve management, and market access for smallholder farmers.
These four pillars underpin everything AFORD stands for.

A Party You Can Trust —
Here's Why
AFORD's commitment to Malawi is not rhetoric. It is built on a foundation of proven action, principled leadership, and genuine accountability to the people — ward by ward, constituency by constituency.
Track Record of Courage
AFORD has stood firm on the hard issues when others stayed silent. From opposing bad governance to defending citizens' rights, our history is one of speaking truth to power — even when it came at a cost.
Trusted Leadership
Our leaders are known, accessible, and deeply rooted in Malawian communities — not distant figures chasing privilege. They come from the same villages, markets, and schools as the people they serve.
Community Accountability
We answer to the people at the grassroots level — ward by ward, constituency by constituency, region by region. AFORD's structure ensures that ordinary Malawians can hold their representatives directly accountable.
Inclusive Policy Vision
Our policies are shaped by all Malawians — women, youth, farmers, entrepreneurs, persons with disabilities, and the most marginalised among us. No voice is too small, no community too remote to matter to AFORD.
Transparent Engagement
We publish our positions, share our decisions openly, and invite scrutiny at every level. A party with nothing to hide hides nothing. AFORD's commitment to transparency is not seasonal — it applies in opposition and in government equally.
Real World Solutions
AFORD's agenda is practical, costed, and grounded in the daily realities of Malawian households — not empty campaign promises. The 4 F's are not slogans. They are a concrete, deliverable programme built on evidence and lived experience.
